Dear Friends,
Since the last newsletter almost a year ago, my life has evolved in unexpected ways. (check out my personal instagram–@sahaja_douglass—
I am not alone in my reverence for relaxation. Decreasing stress is a national pursuit—especially since we now universally recognize how detrimental anxiety is for our health and wellbeing. In this newsletter I will share four simple techniques for decreasing stress and empowering yourself to live a more joy-filled life.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), commonly called “Tapping”
EFT or “Tapping” is a powerful and simple practice that combines acupressure with cognitive therapy. Last February, I participated in an on-line summit and was impressed enough to enroll in a four day workshop in which I learned techniques for practicing clinical EFT. In the video below I demonstrate a five minute EFT practice that releases stress and clears emotional blocks.
MEDITATION
My personal meditation practice takes about 50 minutes to complete, and the IAM-20 meditation I teach takes 20 minutes to complete. As it is not possible to include the IAM here, I am sharing a simple meditative breathing exercise, that is easy to practice.
YOGA
When I was 21 years old, I stumbled into my first hatha yoga class in a loft above the aerobics studio where I bounced and sweat. I fell in love and have practiced consistently since that day. I recently asked renowned Iyengar yoga teacher, Marla Apt to recommend a sequence of poses for relaxation. Marla said, “The single best pose for relaxation and restoration is: Viparita Karani.” Viparita Karani translates to “inverted lake” posture. According to the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, a detailed yoga scripture written in 1350, Viparita Karani preserves the life force.
Essential Oil Blends
And finally, here are two essential oil blends from the SAHAJA collection. I created them to help people relax. You can roll them on or diffuse them— I find they enhance and support the other relaxation techniques I have recommended. And of course, they have a delectable aroma!
